When riding boots are fitted, measurements are usually taken first.
Foot size, calf circumference and shaft height are recorded.
However, numbers alone do not guarantee a good fit.
An experienced boot specialist also looks at the shape of the rider’s leg.
The development of the calf, the ankle and the transition towards the knee all influence which boot model will fit correctly.
This is often described as reading the leg.
Two riders with exactly the same calf measurement can still require completely different boots.
